Automatic SSL
Let's Encrypt certificates are provisioned through Nginx Proxy Manager and renewed automatically.
HostGOAT combines automatic SSL, daily backups, SFTP-only customer file transfer, tenant isolation, and separate backup storage with a deliberately restricted access model.

Customers can move files securely without receiving unrestricted SSH shell access.
Customer environments are separated so tools such as Nancy remain scoped to the current tenant.
Backups are written to a different storage system on the same network rather than kept only on the hosting server.
The backup destination uses a redundant RAID configuration for drive-failure protection.
Every hosting tier can restore any successful backup available to that account.
HostGOAT automatically backs up customer files once every 24 hours. Backups are retained for 14 days and stored on a separate set of drives within the same network.
Customer files are copied on a 24-hour cycle.
Successful backups remain available for 14 days.
Customers can restore available backups without waiting for an administrator.
HostGOAT intentionally separates normal customer file access from server-level administrative access.
| Access | Customer | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Browser file manager | Available | Direct project-file management from HostGOAT. |
| SFTP | Available | Secure external file transfer. |
| SSH shell | Not exposed | Reduces risk to the broader hosting environment. |
| Database management | Available | Customers can create, modify, and remove their own databases. |
Nancy is designed so it cannot access another tenant's files or HostGOAT's core system files. This is application-level isolation; it is not a claim that HostGOAT itself is a zero-knowledge hosting platform.
An uptime guarantee is a service-level commitment describing how consistently a hosting platform is expected to remain available. HostGOAT is presently operating in a beta environment without production-grade power redundancy, so there is no formal uptime SLA today.
The production plan is to move HostGOAT to professional VPS infrastructure with redundant systems and target approximately 99% uptime. That target should not be treated as a contractual guarantee until a formal SLA is published.
